Changing Attitudes, Overcoming Workforce Challenges

mHUB Chicago’s First Industrial Responders Emerge

Changing attitudes and overcoming workforce challenges in manufacturing was the topic of mHUB Chicago’s First Industrial Responders Emerge (FIRE) event on Wednesday April 25, 2018. President Aaron Wiegel was a panel speaker among other industry leaders: Karin M. Norington-Reaves of Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership, Juan Salgado City Colleges of Chicago Alumni, Jenny Kopach of Science Olympiad Alumni Network, and event moderator Steve Kase of ASK Power discussing workforce development and how to attract, retain, and train talent in the manufacturing industry.

The panelists also shared ideas on how to improve our technical education programs and explained how important it is for the local and national manufacturing industry to market the industry’s high-tech and high-paying careers to kids, parents, guidance counselors and the general public. “If we plan to survive we have to maintain that pipeline,” Aaron Wiegel, President of Wiegel told attendees. Smart Industry covers powerful quotes and takeaways from the event in a featured article.
