What is Metal Stamping?
Metal stamping is the process of creating parts through cutting and shaping metal sheets. The process involves putting a metal sheet, or "blank", into a stamping press which then uses dies and punches to create metal parts. Punches are used to cut the metal while dies are used to shape it. Some advantages of this process include:
- Adaptable design that can create complicated shapes
- Bulky metal sheets can be restructured through processes like fineblanking
- Lower pricing per stamped piece
- Metal stamping is a very fast process, meaning a large quantity of parts can be made in short time
