Tool & Die Manufacturing Services
For over 80 years, Wiegel has been designing and building custom tool and dies for leading OEM and tier manufacturers in the aerospace, appliance, automotive, electric vehicle, electrical equipment, electronics, lighting, military and defense, solar, structural building components and telecommunications industries, among others.
Our tool room is fully integrated with our engineering department’s 3D CAD modeling design software, Siemens NX, so we design and manufacture directly off design files to seamlessly manufacture components. While stamping manufacturers who only design tools would have to design and then work with an outsourced tool manufacturing company to build tools, our tool room is “in house” and creates a close alignment between our toolmakers and engineering team. We’re able to manufacture right from the files that are developed in engineering and make tooling adjustments and changes in real-time. This reduces time and prevents delays for your project.

Our Tooling Process
TOOL & DIE DESIGN
Our engineers teamed with the software developers to volunteer new ideas and enhance the most sophisticated 3D CAD modeling design software in the industry, enabling us to design and debug progressive dies on screen with production simulations prior to actual production. Using the Siemens NX die design software for our 3D tooling designs, our engineering department can complete die designs in up to three weeks. In addition to our tool design capabilities, we offer expert recommendations on part designs for more efficient tooling and error-free production. We provide assistance in material and plating selections for part designs and maximize material space with efficient part layouts to reduce the cost of manufacturing your parts.
Our engineers are equipped to design and model the tools for your production program. They are continually pressing forward to develop effective designs, ensure manufacturing efficiency, and cut tooling cost, so we can pass along these savings to our customers.
TOOL & DIE MANUFACTURING SERVICES
We produce our tools in house utilizing top technology such as waterjet cutting, wire EDM, CNC machining and optical profile grinding. We custom fabricate dies for in-house progressive stamping production and also partner with our customers looking to design and produce tools to efficiently integrate in their own in-line automation processes. Tooling fixtures that we produce include checking fixtures, inspection gauges and assembly fixtures.
Progressive Die Metal Stamping
After progressive tooling is designed and built, we can then efficiently transition completed dies into our production department to stamp parts with progressive die high-speed stamping or progressive die heavy stamping. We're known for our quick turnaround of multi-million-piece-part programs at the fastest stamping speeds recognized in the metal stamping industry. We ensure the consistent delivery of quality parts by incorporating multiple in-die sensors and in-line camera vision systems that inspect critical dimensions of all running parts at high speed and high accuracy.
Progressive Die High-Speed Stamping – 30 to 90-ton Bruderer presses running at up to 1500 spm.
Progressive Die Heavy Stamping – 100 to 450-ton Minster presses running at up to 140 spm on conventional presses, up to 250 spm on servo presses, and up to 400 spm on hybrid (adjustable stroke) presses.

We Prioritize customer satisfaction
At Wiegel, our utmost priority is customer satisfaction with the quality and integrity of our parts. In-die sensors, press monitoring systems, camera vision systems and a dedicated inspection team ensure parts leaving the production line exceed customer expectations.
Press Monitoring
The press monitoring system tracks production OEE and offers real-time data feedback reporting from every press on the shop floor. Data collected is used to drive efficiency and eliminate downtime so raw material is processed through machines quicker, parts are coming off the presses at accelerated speeds and parts are delivered and in the hands of our customers on time. As an advanced quality measure, multiple in-die sensors and in-line camera vision systems inspect critical dimensions of all running parts at high speed and high accuracy to eliminate error and ensure the consistent delivery of quality parts.
Leading Technology
Wiegel invests in cutting-edge technology to drive process efficiencies and produce high-quality and cost-effective products. We operate progressive die metal stamping technology from Minster and Bruderer, the leaders in stamping automation technology and equipment. Our enhanced manufacturing equipment is capable of producing with more precision and accuracy and can achieve complex geometries and tighter tolerances. We also have a dedicated automation department that develops in-die sensor technology and camera vision systems used to incorporate quality assurance through all phases of stamping production. With a committed team, innovative equipment, and superior quality control, Wiegel can provide progressive die high-speed stamping and heavy stamping services that turnaround reliable parts on-time and on-budget.
